Remarks of the controller

This year’s Forssa Games takes place on a multiform terrain. There are steep depressions as well as flat coniferous forest. Partly the terrain is easy to run through, but partly stony.

The runnability is mainly determined by the forestry operations of different ages. The latest loggings continued until the Forssa Games. The newest loggings are quite difficult to run through, and are marked as “undergrowth: slow run” on the map. There are a lot of tractor trails on the logged areas. The most visible are marked on the map, but there are more of them on the terrain. There are also areas where forestry operations have not been done, and the terrain is easy to run. In general, the runnability varies a lot.

The visibility varies as much as the runnability. Part of the thickets marked with green on the map are old plantations where visibility is already moderate. However, visibility and runnability together still justify the use of green color.

The type of the terrain has set challenges especially to children’s courses, which mainly are situated on their own area. Unfortunately the terrain is not very easy to run either there. To make it easier, roads and paths are offered as route choices. On the children’s area, there are a couple of deep ditches, which however are quite narrow.
